CLOUDS CAN LIFT OFF TO NEW LEVEL

- By The Scout (Chris Goulding)

VINTAGE CLOUDS can make it fourth time lucky by capturing tomorrow’s Coral Scottish Grand National at Ayr.

This gallant warrior has his fourth crack at Scotland’s premier jump prize after finishing a respectable sixth, third and seventh in the marathon contest.

Despite his advancing years, VINTAGE CLOUDS (3.35, nb, ITV, right) showed that he retains all of his ability when beating Happygolucky at Cheltenham last month, where Aye Right (now 7lb better off) was over seven lengths back in third place.

Happygolucky has since won well to frank the form.

Dingo Dollar has serious place claims after finding his form since joining Sandy Thomson but significantly Ryan Mania, who had the option of the ride, partners Vintage Clouds.

KING D’ARGENT (1.15, ITV) can kick start a rewarding day for Dan and Harry Skelton by taking the opening event.

The progressive CALICO (2.25, nap, ITV) has the credentials to take the Coral Scottish Champion Hurdle for the brothers. He bombed up on his recent start, beating Moore Margaux at Warwick. ALLMANKIND (3.00, ITV) can complete the treble for the Skeltons by taking the Jordans Champion Chase. And FIVE STAR GETAWAY (1.50, ITV), winner of his last three outings, remains on a good mark in the CPMS Chase.

At Newbury 2,000 Guineas hope CHINDIT (2.45, ITV) gets the vote in the Greenham Stakes. Having beaten most of her rivals in the past ALCOHOL FREE (2.10, treble, ITV) can confirm that form in the Dubai Fred Darling Stakes.

John and Thady Gosden can enjoy success with Enable’s half-brother DERAB (1.00, ITV) in the opening event. Scottish raider EUCHEN GLEN (1.35, ITV) has the form in the book to take the John Porter Stakes, while after his promising fourth behind Haqeeqy in last month’s Lincoln at Doncaster, DANYAH (3.20, ITV) will now be ready.
