Murder probe after dad run over ‘several times’ by car

A FATHER has died “run over repeatedly” broad daylight.

Matthew Tester, 49, was hit by a BMW, and a murder probe is now under way.

The driver also allegedly slammed into a second man, leaving him seriously injured.

He was airlifted to hospital and is expected to survive, said police.

Detectives have launched a murder investigat­ion after the incident in Walton-onThames, Surrey, on Thursday afternoon.

Officers were called to the scene following reports of an “altercatio­n” between a group of men.

Surrey Police said there was a “physical confrontat­ion” before one of the men got into a BMW and drove at the two victims.

The car owner, 26, was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Police said they were not looking for anyone else.

Mr Tester, a father to twin teenage girls, lived just half a mile from the spot where he died.

His violent death has left wife Kim and daughters Maddy and Pippa “absolutely devastated”.

One witness claimed the after being by a car in incident started with a row over where BMW was parked.

He said: “It was just a stupid dispute and the guy just went for him.

“It was just about where the BMW was parked. That is all it was about – where he parked it. It is so stupid.”

Yesterday, tributes were paid to the popular scaffoldin­g firm boss. Mr Tester, who died shortly before his 50th birthday, was a motor scooter enthusiast.

Known as Tik, he was also said to be a martial arts fan.

One friend said: “Matthew was a really nice family man. Everyone is so shocked.

“I just feel so sorry for Kim and the girls.” Another friend commented: “He was the nicest neighbour who would do absolutely anything for you if you asked.

“I can’t imagine him argument with anyone.

“He was a very friendly good husband and dad.”

Floral tributes were left at the scene. One message read: “Tik, we are totally devastated.
