- By James Nursey

RYAN GIGGS will not be in charge of Wales at the Euros this summer, with his managerial future in serious doubt after being charged with assaulting his former girlfriend.

Caretaker Rob Page is to continue to take control of Wales in the absence of the Manchester United legend.

Giggs, 47, will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday on charges of three alleged offences, including two counts of assault and one of coercive control. The Crown

Prosecution Service announced their decision yesterday over the alleged incident at Giggs’ home in Manchester last November involving his former girlfriend, PR worker Kate Greville, 36, and another woman.

Giggs had been on special leave from theWales job since his arrest and was bailed twice by Greater Manchester Police.

FA ofWales president Kieran O’Connor said recently they hoped their manager’s issues would be resolved by May 1 – when his bail was due to end.

But the FAW have now been forced to make alternative arrangements for the Euros.

Giggs, appointed in January 2018 on a four-year deal, said: “I have full respect for the due process of law and understand the seriousness of the allegations.

“I will plead not guilty in court and look forward to clearing my name.

“I would like to wish Robert Page, the coaching staff, the players and the supporters every success at the Euros.”

FormerWales and Sheffield United defender Page, 46, has been in charge for the past six games in Giggs’ absence and led the country to promotion from their Nations League group.

Wales will be in Group A at the Euros with Italy, Switzerland and Turkey.
