Labour won’t wallpaper over the PM’s successes

-

WHAT is more important to people in this country? Boris Johnson’s choice of wallpaper in Downing Street or 60 million new doses of vaccines to help prevent a winter lockdown and save lives?

For Express readers and most sensible people we have no doubt that the choice is not a choice at all.We would choose the life-saving vaccines over the tittle-tattle of the Westminster soap opera any day.

But that is perhaps why so many of you choose to read this newspaper because we, like this government, are focused on the important issues that affect people’s lives.

Certainly the announcement of the booster doses – which incidentally should save Christmas – is tremendous news and underlines that Boris Johnson is getting on with the job of tackling the pandemic.

The fact that Britain’s vaccine programme has rolled out so quickly and that, unlike Europe, we are unlocking the country and not locking down, is a tribute to him, his ministers and all the people working so hard to get us through the Covid nightmare.

So you have to wonder what Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer is waffling on about. Is he and his party really so caught up with how Mr Johnson paid for wallpapering for a flat that one day he will leave because it is owned by the nation?

This shows how far Labour has fallen. It used to be the party of the working classes, a patriotic party concerned with the everyday issues faced by ordinary people.

Now it is the party of the London-based elites obsessed with gossip and furnishings not with the really important issues.
