A £10,000 reward was offered yesterday in the hunt for the killer of PCSO Julia James.

Crimestoppers put the money forward to help an appeal for information to identify the killer.

Detectives are hunting for evidence after Julia, 53, was bludgeoned to death while walking her dog on a remote rural footpath in Kent.

Crimestoppers is known for trying to find information by giving anonymity to witnesses with vital clues.

Yesterday, Julia’s heartbroken daughter Bethan Coles, 28, herself a serving Kent police officer, said: “Crimestoppers are offering a £10,000 reward for help in finding the person who killed my mum. Please share far and wide.”

Mick Duthie, the group’s director of operations, said yesterday that finding

Julia’s killer might also stop someone else being attacked. He said: “Crimestoppers is here to help people who – for whatever reason – won’t or can’t speak directly to the police, but want to do the right thing.

“Julia’s life has mercilessly been taken away. If you know who was involved, please remember our charity’s unique service guaranteeing anonymity is here for you.

“By contacting us, you can help, anonymously, to have the person face up to the consequences of their violent actions.

“You may even prevent someone else from coming to harm.”

Julia, a married mum of two, was killed on April 27 as she walked her Jack Russell near her home in Snowdown.

She died from serious head injuries and her body was found with her pet unharmed at her side.

Detectives say they do not yet have a suspect or a motive for the murder.
