GARDENING: Alan Titchmarsh: Spring Into Summer, ITV, 8pm

Alan celebrates the great outdoors, offering tips on gardening and farming and getting celebrity guests involved in planting schemes and food tasting. With the weather getting warmer and lockdown easing, the focus will be on nature and being able, once again, to take advantage of our outdoor spaces, no matter how big or small. This week Call the Midwife star Cliff Parisi (left), tells Alan about his role as Nonnatus House handyman Fred Buckle, who loves nothing more than pottering around his garden. Camilla Bassett Smith is back in her cottage garden and Jo Behari transforms an old garden bench, advising on how best to protect and weatherpro­of.

COMEDY: Motherland. BBC2, 9pm

New series of the popular comedy, starring Anna Maxwell Martin and Diane Morgan (both left). As an outbreak of head lice sweeps the school, Julia finds herself accused of triggering a second wave. Ostracised by the other mums, she tries to get back in their good books by hosting a nit treatment party at her home. The gathering reveals that Anne has some big news, Meg is facing a crisis, Kevin has committed a crime of passion and Liz is waiting to hear about a possible career move.

REAL LIFE: Baby Surgeons: Delivering Miracles, C4, 9pm

An unborn baby has a large cyst on its neck that may prevent it from breathing on its own once born – requiring a procedure which has never been performed in the UK before. Other patients include a woman expecting twins, who must choose whether to end the life of one foetus to save the other and a 22-year-old woman is carrying triplets and facing motherhood and some tough decisions alone.
