Kitty in pink

- By Paul Jeeves

EVERYTHING’S looking English rosy as Lady Kitty Spencer models a fab floral gown outside her family’s stately pile – and follows in the footsteps of her fashion icon aunt, Princess Diana.

Kitty posed in the pretty pink creation and a dramatic black number during a photoshoot at Althorp, home to the Spencers for 500 years.

But while the 30-year-old is used to catching the camera’s eye, she revealed it was a shock when her appearance at Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding, right, thrust her into the spotlight.

Onlookers said she looked just like Diana

– and Kitty’s followers on Instagram rocketed from 17,000 to half a million overnight.

She recalled: “I woke up the next day and looked at my phone and thought, ‘Whoops, did I take someone else’s by mistake?

“It was very weird and a little bit overwhelming.”

Kitty, daughter of Diana’s brother Charles, shares her aunt’s fondness for their Northamptonshire family seat.

She said: “We have such an emotional attachment to Althorp. That’s where we would have our Easter-egg hunts and our Christmases; I have my little vegetable patch, I learnt to ride a horse there, I learnt to ride a bike and to rollerblade. “It’s so lovely to look back on the history.”

She clearly enjoyed working from home for the Town and Country Magazine photoshoot.

But it’s been tough being parted from twin sisters Eliza and Amelia, 28, who have been in South Africa during the pandemic.

She said: “We are a bit of a tripod. It’s been horrible to be separated this year.”

Kitty is engaged to South African fashion tycoon Michael Lewis, 61. The 31-year age gap has raised eyebrows, but Kitty told Town and Country: “I just look forward to a really happy home life: a happy marriage and happy children.” She is cover girl for the magazine’s summer special edition, on sale from today, which also features a tribute to the late Prince Philip.
