THE POSITIVE PROFESSOR

SOCIAL media’s voice of calm Karol Sikora has been signed up by the Daily Express. Readers can now enjoy his soothing advice in these troubled times which has won him
hundreds of thousands of followers on Twitter. If you need reassuring everything’s going to be all right read Professor Positivity. PERHAPS I’m naive, but I believe people are far more intelligent and savvy than politicians have given them credit for.
The argument about Government advice on “how to hug” a relative was just ridiculous and underlines the need for a more mature debate.
If you treat people like adults, they’ll act like them. I was delighted to hear the huge change in tone from the Prime Minister towards this way of thinking.
“Common sense” can mean a hundred different things to a hundred different people but when it comes to sensibly judging your’s and your family’s risk I’m confident that the right decisions will be taken.
Protection
The success and effectiveness of Covid jabs means that a potentially lethal disease for millions has been significantly downgraded.
There is no doubt of the threat the virus can pose to certain parts of society, but we should also appreciate the level of protection vaccines grant. We have to embrace that and move forwards with both caution and confidence.
Matt Hancock, the Health Secretary, also struck an optimistic tone. He stated that the Government would lay out the risks and then leave it to the familes involved to decide how they want to proceed. I fully support that sentiment.
Some will choose to isolate, wear a mask or be more cautious in avoiding crowds and that is absolutely their decision, but others will feel that the risk is worth the benefit of living a more fulfilled life. We will all have to sit down and decide how is best to proceed.
I’m pleased that this is seemingly becoming Government policy.
