OLE NOT SORRY HE’S RILED REDS

- By Gideon Brooks

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has risked inflaming Liverpool fans by insisting he does not care if he has scuppered their Champions League hopes.

The United manager delivered a blow to Liverpool’s top-four target when fielding a secondstring side in defeat against Leicester on Tuesday.

He offered no apology about restoring his biggest guns to the line-up for their rearranged clash tonight – a fixture postponed because of the protests of United’s fans.

Solskjaer said: “My job is Man United and my concern is the Man United fans, what they think about my team, what they want from my team.” Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp backed Solskjaer over his team selection, admitting he would have done the same and calling the scheduling “a crime”.

Solskjaer made 10 changes against the Foxes, including two teenagers. That the star names are back tonight is bound to raise tensions given Leicester’s win left Klopp’s men seven points off the top four with just four games remaining.

Liverpool is the first of United’s three remaining games, with Solskjaer’s side hosting relegated Fulham next Tuesday and finishing with a trip to Wolves on May 23. Solskjaer has ruled Harry Maguire out of their remaining league fixtures after he sustained ankle ligament damage against Aston Villa last Sunday. But he added: “The good news is there was no fracture, but a ligament injury is serious.”

Extra police and security stewards will be on duty as United bid to avoid a repeat of the violent scenes that forced the original game to be called off on May 2.
