Klopp salutes his record-breakers for ‘insane result’

JURGEN KLOPP hailed his Liverpool stars for shattering another record in the rout of Manchester United.

The Reds recorded their biggest ever win at Old Trafford against their bitter rivals.

Mo Salah’s hat-trick also meant he became the first away player in Premier League history to grab a hat-trick at this ground as he took his season tally to a remarkable 15 in 12 games.

And after his Liverpool side embarrassed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s flops in a one-sided showing, manager Klopp said: “It’s a big one. I was told that it had never happened before in the history of LFC.

“This group always wanted to write their own chapter so this was a little chapter tonight.

“People will talk about it in the future, 100 percent because it does not happen very often.

“It’s an insane result. “It is special but we don’t celebrate like crazy, we have respect for the opponents.”

Salah scored the hat-trick but the win was also down to the performances from others, including Roberto Firmino.

Klopp said: “I’m pretty sure when he finishes playing people will write books about how he interpreted the false nine position. I won’t say he invented it but the way he plays it looks like it.”

Naby Keita also played a pivotal role as he recovered from being hooked at half-time against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday to score and be involved in four of the five goals.

Klopp said: “It was obvious we could start him again because he is in really good shape.”

But the only low point for the Reds were the injuries to James Milner and Keita, the latter caused by a horror tackle from Paul Pogba that resulted in the United midfielder being sent off.

Klopp added: “Millie is injured and Naby as well.

“We have to see how serious it is. It is very painful but we will see.

“That [tackle] should not happen, it is clear. Sometimes, in such an atmosphere, against such an opponent, it can happen.”
