Please put your feet up, Ma’am

-

THERE have been some worrying headlines this week about the Queen. Her Maj spent a night in hospital having tests and she’s had to pull out of the COP26 summit on doctors’ orders.

Our Queen is a force of Nature. For most of us she’s just always been there and even at 95 she works harder than most people half her age.

But of course at 95 she IS going to have some medical issues and we have to pray they aren’t serious. But Her Maj, whose sense of duty runs through her like writing through a stick of rock, needs to know her subjects want her to rest so she’ll be with us for years to come.

Yes, COP26 will be a dull old do without her. And yes, whenever Charles or Wills deputise for her at various events it’s nowhere near as exciting.

So rest Ma’am. We need you fit and well!

JAPAN’S Princess Mako has given up royal life with all its privileges because she’s madly in love. She’s rejected a lavish state wedding and a £1million payment, given to all female Japanese royals who lose their status upon marrying, and she’s off to New York.

Now, I’m all for the mad, passionate, head-over-heels kind of love. But those of us who’ve been married since God was a lad know that after a few years of picking up his underpants and scrapping about whose turn it is to do the dishes, the gloss tends to wear off.

And a million quid would more than compensate for that.

EMMANUEL MACRON doesn’t give a stuff about fish or fishermen. Everything that’s currently happening – his threats to block our ports, the Channel tunnel, cut off power to Jersey, kidnapping one of our fishing boats, claiming we’re holding back fishing licences when we’ve actually allocated licences to 98 per cent of those who’ve applied – are about just two things. First, his visceral hatred of Britain and the fact he can’t accept we’ve left the EU.

But mostly it’s that he’s up for re-election next April. He knows fishermen are mostly on the side of Marine Le Pen and he wants their vote – so he’s grandstanding and pretending to be their “champion”.

This government must not cave in to his threats and should slap him down for being the aggressive little twerp he is.
