Property: Extraordin­ary Extensions, C4, 9pm

Rapper, presenter and property and design enthusiast Tinie Tempah (left) follows homeowners as they unleash their inner architect and build beautiful and often radical and “out there” home extensions. He follows two builds that sit uniquely in their surroundin­gs, meeting contractor Rod and his gin distiller wife Clarice, who have added a modern and uncompromi­sing 21st-century extension to their 17th-century Cotswolds cottage. Musician Tinie also follows passionate extenders NHS surgeon Humza and his banker wife Pari, who indulge their creative flair, attention to detail and love of terrazzo with a unique up-and-over arch window.

Film: Disconnect, BBC2, 11.15pm

This 2012 drama explores the negative side effects of a world dominated by technology. The lives of three disparate people intersect thanks to their connection to the internet. An over-worked lawyer spends more time on his mobile phone than with his family, a widowed ex-cop struggles to bring up his son who cyberbulli­es a classmate and a journalist is keen to write a story on a teen who works for a webcam sex service. Travel: Rick Stein’s Taste Of Shanghai, BBC2, 8pm

Celebrity chef Rick Stein finds out if Shanghai has hung on to its culinary roots and wants to add a few more dishes to his Chinese repertoire. He tucks into rich red braised pork – a favourite of Chairman Mao, the city’s much-loved hairy crabs and dumplings that sag under the weight of the hot liquid inside and burst at the slightest touch. He also rustles up some of his favourite Shanghaine­se dishes from the trip.

Arts: Portrait Artist Of The Year, Sky Arts, 8pm

The competitio­n continues as a talented bunch of artists battle it out to try and impress judges Kathleen Soriano, Tai-Shan Schierenbe­rg and Kate Bryan. This week the artists create portraits of famous faces including singer-songwriter Celeste, actress Lydia West and politician Alastair Campbell (left). Actor Stephen Mangan presents alongside Joan Bakewell, as they pass an expert eye over proceeding­s.

History: Lucy Worsley’s Fireworks For A Tudor Queen, BBC4, 10pm

Lucy Worsley (right) teams up with materials scientist Zoe Laughlin in an attempt to recreate one of the first firework displays in Britain. The festivitie­s were originally put on by Robert Dudley, a close friend of Queen Elizabeth I, as an attempt to win her hand in marriage in 1575. Lucy and Zoe meet a team of pyrotechni­cians who help them replicate the display at Kenilworth Castle, in Warwickshi­re, where the proposal took place all those centuries ago.
