Christian belief in Cap
CAP DU NORD can pay for the drinks by landing today’s Badger Beer Chase at Wincanton.
After running some excellent races in defeat last season, the handicapper has given the eight-year-old a cracking chance of giving his trainer Christian Williams a second success in the race.
Williams took the prize in 2004 as a jockey when partnering Royal Auclair to victory for Paul Nicholls.
At the weights, CAP DU NORD (3.00, treble, ITV4) can turn the tables on El Presente, the winner of last year’s race, and the runner-up Potterman on their running at Sandown in April.
Nicholls has two bankers at his local track in KNAPPERS HILL (1.15) and MICK PASTOR (1.50, ITV4).
But EMMPRESSIVE LADY (2.25, ITV4) can deny Nicholls a treble by proving too strong for his pair, Eglantine Du Seuil and Cut The Mustard, in the Mares’ Hurdle.
The unpredictable GOSHEN (3.35, nap, ITV4) is worth a punt judged on his impressive victory at this track in February.
On that occasion, Gary Moore’s charge won by 22 lengths from
Song For Someone, which gives him the edge on form lines over Sceau Royal.
At Aintree, the useful PILEON (1.08, ITV4) has a cracking chance at the weights to put behind him last season’s dismal performances.
HOGAN’S HEIGHT (2.15, ITV4) can again show his liking for the Grand National fences by adding to his 2019 Sefton Chase success by taking this year’s contest.
SUMMERVILLE BOY (3.20, nb, ITV4), another with a fondness for the track, has the credentials to make it impressive back-toback victories in the Betway Hurdle for Gloucestershire trainer Tom George, left.
At Doncaster, DASHING ROGER (1.25, ITV4) deserves another chance after he failed to show on his recent start owing to a poor draw.
KING’S LYNN (2.05, ITV4) gets the nod in this lesser grade after some excellent performances in better company. The soft ground and drop in trip will enable PRINCE ALEX (2.40, ITV4) to take the November Handicap, the last notable prize of the turf Flat season.
