‘I now have muscles in places I didn’t know you could have them

TV Dragon Sara fired up for 6am Strictly training

- By Naomi Clarke

SARA Davies is turning her hard-sell know-how to hard graft, in her most gruelling week of Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals.

The entrepreneur insists she and pro Aljaz Skorjanec train from 6am every day for the BBC hit show – and Aljaz has even moved nearby to help their early starts.

Sara, 37, told Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway: “Honestly, I have muscles in places I didn’t even know muscles existed.

“What’s really weird is every week it’s a different dance, it seems to be a different set of muscles.”

Tonight Dragons’ Den star Sara and Aljaz will dance the intense Argentine tango to No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) by Donna Summer and Barbra Streisand.

Aching

Sara said she had thought the training would get a bit easier over time, but she admitted: “This week has been, without a shadow of a doubt, the hardest.

“The Argentine tango...it’s all the work on your legs. You know, when you go to the gym and you do a legs day, you do some lunges, and then you can’t walk up the stairs or sit on the loo for the next two or three days?

“It’s like that, but every day for eight hours a day.

“You think dancing is dancing but an Argentine tango is a world away from a quickstep.

“But at least the muscles that were aching last week get a bit of respite this week. And

I’m hoping these legs get a bit of a rest next week.”

When Sara, who founded the Crafter’s Companion company, was first announced as a Strictly contestant on Good Morning Britain, she recalled telling Kate that she hoped to merely survive the first couple of weeks.

She reminded her: “I remember saying at the time, ‘Yes, let’s just get through the first week or two, and if I ever made it to halfway it would be an absolute miracle’.”

She added: “And halfway was last weekend.”

But Aljaz, 31, was less surprised at Sara’s achievement as he told how she brings her business toughness to the dance floor.

He said: “I can just confirm that from rehearsals onwards, the amount of focus that Sara has is incredible and that, for sure, comes from business.

Babysitting

“I mean every single dance, every single minute. We start at 6am every single day to rehearse. I get to the training room and Sara is ready to go at 6.01 am.”

Joking that she has turned

Aljaz into a morning person, Sara admitted she needs to begin work early because that is when her brain is “firing a lot better”.

The pair’s regimented training schedule also allows Sara to focus on her business and spend time with her husband Simon and their sons Oliver and Charlie.

And to make training easier Aljaz has moved to the Northeast where Sara lives.

He said he now feels like “part of the family”, saying he helps with the school run and does a spot of babysitting when Sara is in meetings.
