Get us back in there! Stars out for a third night

- By Mark Jefferies

I’M A Celebrity’s storm-struck stars were set to return to the castle today after the show was scrapped for a third night.

The contestants were evacuated when Storm Arwen ripped through North Wales, wrecking the set and equipment.

Production crews were yesterday desperately trying to rebuild it.

The weather drama at Gwrych Castle forced ITV chiefs to pull live shows on Saturday, Sunday and last night.

A spokesman said I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! would return to TV screens tonight.

However, the forced retreat was not all bad news for the stars. They were said to be living in quarantine in nearby cottages with hot meals and warm beds, in stark contrast to the meagre rations they had been living off.

A show source said: “Things keep changing but we need the celebrities in soon, otherwise we won’t have enough footage.”

ITV revealed in a statement: “I’m A

Celebrity... will return from Tuesday on ITV and ITV Hub with a brand new show. [Hosts] Ant and Dec will be back presenting live from the castle.”

On Sunday, Ant and Dec posted that staff were “working round the clock” so the show could start broadcasting again “as quickly as is humanly possible”. However, they added that they “don’t know when that is going to be just yet”.

Tonight’s episode will feature a live public vote to decide who will face the next trial, with the result revealed at the end of the programme. ITV has not confirmed when the first star will be voted off.

The series seems jinxed for 2021. It was already struggling, with audience numbers down 50 per cent on pre-pandemic shows in Australia. But chiefs said the launch show had a consolidated audience of 11.1 million viewers, closer to normal figures.
