SILLETT SALUTE
Best way to honour legend is to beat Baggies says Robins
COVENTRY manager Mark Robins has urged his men not to get affected by the emotional tribute to FA Cup-winning boss John Sillett.
The Sky Blues will wear black armbands and there is to be a minute’s applause for their 1987 Wembley hero, who died this week aged 85.
Robins, right, wants it to be a celebration to Sillett and says the best way to do that would be to beatWest Brom today.
He said: “It will be an emotional day because those supporters and people who knew him and loved him will want to pay their respects.
“Hopefully we can win the game for him. In a week that’s as poignant as this one, we want to give a good performance and just try to keep moving it forwards.
“Some of the players knew John and had met him. I am hoping it’s a celebration because I am sure he would have wanted that. But we will certainly feel some emotion.”
West Brom defender Matt Clarke says it is the perfect opportunity for the Baggies to turn around their puzzling form.
They have failed to win any of their past four games and not scored in the last three.
Only leaders Fulham have a better home record than in the Championship this season and Clarke admits Albion are not showing the form of a promotion favourite.
He said: “It’s the perfect time to change our fortunes. We’re going to have 4,500 fans there to support us.
“There’s a determination in the dressing room to put things right. The results haven’t been what we wanted them to be so the mood isn’t sky high.
“We want to be performing better than we are. We want to be in a better position than we are. It’s up to us to find that little bit more.”
