Fuelish jibe at mighty Martin

-

IT’S FARCICAL for the big energy companies to blame money saving expert Martin Lewis for crashing their websites. Lewis had advised people to submit meter readings ahead of Friday’s price hike so the power they’d already used wouldn’t be charged at the new prices. The result was that the websites of all the major companies went into meltdown.

A tweet on E.On’s official account read: “Martin has once again created an unprecedented demand bringing down Britain.”

Er, no, it was the energy companies’ incompetence, inefficiency and lack of preparation that brought down Britain. These companies have known for months the precise day of the price hike and they should have been better prepared for the surge in website traffic.

Martin Lewis’s job is to protect consumers from the greed of energy suppliers who are quite happy to take our money yet don’t want to invest in systems and servers to cope with increased activity.

And let’s not forget, no matter how much energy prices rise, these fat cat companies will still be raking in obscene profits. And THAT’S why they hate Martin Lewis – because he’s not afraid to say so!

REMEMBER Jackie Weaver, the feisty official who was told “you have no authority here”, by the furious chairman of Handforth Parish Council? Well two years, six reports and many thousands of pounds later it’s official – Mrs Weaver, right, had no authority.

But do you care? I don’t. And Jackie, who became a bit of a TV celebrity on the back of the council meeting clip that went viral, doesn’t either. Local authorities are forever pleading poverty so where does Cheshire East Council get off frittering away taxpayers’ cash to ease the wounded egos of those male councillors Jackie upset?
