Finca Constancia Entre Lunas 2019 (£10, 14%) A fabulous full-bodied red. Flavours and aromas of dark fruit (raspberries and blackberries) and a hint of liquorice make it truly mouthwatering. Available from Sainsbury’s.

3 Maruxa Godello 2020 (£11.99, 13.5%)

A sensational white made using godello grapes from the steep, terraced vineyards of Valdeorras in Galicia. Citrussy aromas combine with a refreshing minerality on the palate. Very nice. (From £9.99 for a mixed six). Available from Majestic.

Viña Elena Familia Pacheco Organic 2019 (£10, 14%)

Made by a family winery in

Murcia, directly inland from the Costa Blanca, this full-bodied red made from monastrell grapes is like sipping sunshine. Red berries and a hint of balsamic vinegar lends it a savoury flavour. Available from Hometipple.

5 Freixenet Cordôn Negro Brut D.O. CAVA (£10.95, 11.5%)

A classy light cava made using the Champagne method with macabeo, xarel·lo and parellada grapes, it’s gorgeously fruity with apples, pear and melon and a citrussy tang. A bargain alternative to French fizz. Available from Slurp.co.uk

Made from handpicked tempranillo grapes from the heart of Rioja region, CVNE is a fifth-generation family producer with a formidable reputation that is welldeserved. A deep ruby colour hints at the rich flavours to follow: red-berries and fine spices. Available from Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Ocado and Whole Foods.
