SEE THE LIGHT IN CUP

- By The Scout (Chris Goulding)

KITTY’S LIGHT, the unfortunate loser of last year’s bet365 Gold Cup, can make amends in today’s 65th running of the contest at Sandown.

Last season KITTY’S LIGHT (3.32, nb, ITV) finished third but was placed second after being carried off a straight course when Potterman was awarded the race following the demotion of Enrilo from first place to third.

At the weights the Christian Williams-trained gelding faces a tough call but has significantly improved this season.

The six-year-old is now weighted to turn the tables on stablemateWin MyWings (now 12lb worse off) who he finished second behind in the Scottish National.

The hat-trick-seeking Musical Slave, backed in recent days, represents the danger off his feather weight.

DOCTOR PARNASSUS

(1.50, ITV) can show the benefit of this lesser grade after his respectable seventh behind Vauban in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham last time out. It was too early to tell if ERNE RIVER (2.25, ITV) was going to play a part in the finish after his fall at Aintree last time out, but his previous form gives him the edge in today’s contest.

Today’s conditions will be ideal for GREANETEEN (3.00, nap, ITV) to make it back-toback victories in the Celebration Chase.

On his last visit to Sandown, he had Nube Negra back in fourth place when taking the Tingle Creek Chase in December.

At Haydock, OO DE LALLY (2.05, ITV) will have his cause helped by the talented claimer William Cox taking 3lb off his back.

In the past, the Andrew Balding-trained gelding has shown that he wins first time out.

ARATUS (2.45, treble, ITV) gets a big vote of confidence from his trainer Clive Cox for the King Richard III Stakes at Leicester.

This progressive handicapper is expected to step up to better company this season.
