TV star Corden says sorry for rant at waiter

Actor in ‘crazy’ omelette outburst

- By Jan Disley

JAMES Corden was said to have “apologised profusely” after a restaurant boss banned him for allegedly berating staff.

The Gavin And Stacey star, 44, allegedly “yelled like crazy” at New York’s upmarket Balthazar Restaurant, when his wife was served an egg-yolk omelette that contained some white.

The restaurant’s British owner, Keith McNally, said it happened when James and wife Julia came to his Manhattan business for brunch on October 9.

In an Instagram post that went viral, Mr McNally, 71, said James, who hosts US TV’s The

Late Late Show, had been the “most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers” in 25 years.

But yesterday, Mr McNally declared “all is forgiven” and lifted the ban after claiming James had said sorry.

He told his 85,000 followers: “James Corden just called me and apologised profusely.

“Anyone magnanimous enough to apologise to a deadbeat layabout like me (and my staff) doesn’t deserve to be banned from anywhere. Especially Balthazar.”

A manager at the restaurant said of the omelette incident: “The kitchen remade the dish, but unfortunately sent it with home fries instead of salad. “That’s when James Corden began yelling like crazy to the server, ‘You can’t do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself’.”

The manager said that after he gave the couple champagne James was pleasant to him, but “nasty to the server”. Mr McNally had also claimed that in an incident in June, James demanded “free drinks this second” after finding hair in his food and threatened to leave “nasty reviews”. Father-of-three James has not commented over Mr McNally’s claims.
