Film: Knives Out, Film 4, 9pm

“Gentleman detective” Benoit Blanc is called to the home of a wealthy, elderly crime novelist who has been discovered with his throat slit. As Blanc investigat­es the deceased’s family and their likely motives for murder, he forms a bond with the dead man’s nurse Marta, who also has something to hide. Meanwhile, one key question continues to gnaw at Blanc: who actually hired him? Murder mystery comedy with Daniel Craig (left) and Ana de Armas.

Drama: Blue Bloods, 5USA, 9pm

Three young women are attacked on a local university campus, and when Danny investigat­es, evidence suggests the culprit is a member of an elite fraternity and the son of an Argentinia­n diplomat. Meanwhile, Sydney realises that Jamie is more dedicated to the police force than to her, and Frank is forced to question his relationsh­ip with Kelly. Crime drama, starring Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg (above).

Documentar­y: DNA Journey, ITV, 9pm

Old friends, comedians Joel Dommett and Tom Allen (left) are delving into their respective family histories as they embark on a road-trip around the UK and Ireland. Joel learns of an ancestor who produced inventions that saved thousands of lives, contributi­ng towards the end of the First World War. He also discovers some surprising roots after heading north. Tom uncovers the emotional story of his great grandparen­ts – from a criminal past to a successful career on the stage, and the tragic turn that meant they had to give up their baby girl, Tom’s beloved grandmothe­r, for adoption. There is also a final shock in store for Tom after discoverin­g he’s related to true TV royalty.

History: The Great Storm Of ’87, C5, 10.05pm

A look back at the extratropi­cal cyclone that devastated the UK in October 1987, but which was dismissed just hours earlier by BBC weatherman Michael Fish. The programme features memories and anecdotes from famous faces, including music producer Pete Waterman, TV host Anne Diamond and celebrity gardener Alan Titchmarsh, who remembers the destructio­n of 700 trees at Kew Gardens.

Comedy: I Hate You, C4, 10pm

Becca’s father dies, leaving her feeling bad after not crying over his loss. She guilts Charlie into bunking off work with her, but the day soon spirals into chaos as the girls play their extreme dare game – Scary Dare – and Becca throws Charlie’s keys into a parked van. When Charlie goes to retrieve them, she ends up on an unexpected journey before an eventful evening at Bradley’s party. Comedy, starring Tanya Reynolds and Melissa Saint (right).
