SIX SPOOKILY GREAT BOTTLES

-

1 Casillero del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon (£6.75, 13.5%)

This Chilean cabernet sauvignon is a firm favourite of mine and, at this price, should be yours too. Blackcurrants, black cherries and even some black (well, dark anyway) chocolate. Perfect for sipping in a darkened room this Halloween. Available from The Co-op.

2 Full Moon Mighty Murray Victoria White 2021 (£8.95, 13%)

Great name, great wine. And perfect for your Halloween party. This Aussie white is a highly attractive blend of semillon, colombard and chardonnay with plenty of apples, limes and a refreshing, crisply acidic palate. Available from The Wine Society.

3 T-Bone Malbec (£9.99, 13%)

Described as being inkyblack, quite accurately, this simply stunning malbec is an absolute must if you’re feasting on red meat. Rich and velvety with plenty of juicy dark berries and spicy undertones, it’s making my mouth water writing this! Available from Laithwaites.

4 Rex Mundi Shiraz Grenache 2021 (£11.99, 13%)

Another great wine to have with steaks or chops or meaty pasta, this French blend of shiraz and grenache from the Languedoc-Roussillon region is rich, fruity, and lip-smackingly delicious. A really terrific all-rounder with or without Halloween! Available from Laithwaites.

5 Zuccardi Malamado 50cl (£9, 18.5%)

Sweet and silky, with a subtly spiced aroma, this fortified malbec from Argentina (the country’s first, apparently) is billed as the ideal alternative to tawny port. As such it’s perfect as a yummy after-dinner libation with chocolate or cheese. It won’t last long when you open the bottle. Available from Tesco.

6 Simpsons of Servian Sparkling Syrah 2020 (£14.99, 13.5%)

Perfect if you fancy some bubbles but don’t want to blow your budget, this sparkling syrah will add a bit of fizz into any evening. Fruity and fabulous, a perfect party wine. Available from Naked Wines.
