Aaron refuses to play blame game

ARSENAL V NOTT’M FOREST 2.30PM, TOMORROW, SKY

AARON RAMSDALE says Arsenal will not be looking for excuses when Nottingham Forest visit the Emirates tomorrow.

Steve Cooper’s side are on a high after stunning Liverpool at the City Ground last weekend, while Arsenal are coming off a shocker in Eindhoven as they lost 2-0 to PSV on Thursday night in the Europa League.

It marked back-toback games without a win for the Gunners for the first time this season. But the Arsenal keeper, who punched thin air from a corner, enabling Luuk de Jong to head home a second for the hosts on Thursday, is not interested in shifting the blame.

“There were a number of things,” said Ramsdale, when asked why Arsenal struggled to find their groove against PSV.

“But we are a good enough team not to be blaming things, obviously the pitch, etc. There are plenty of things we can take from the game, both as a team and individually.” Arsenal remain top of the table in the Premier League but Manchester City are now just two points adrift of their biggest challengers following the Gunners’ 1-1 draw at Southampton.

While one unbeaten run has now ended, Ramsdale is determined to ensure another one starts tomorrow on home soil as Arsenal strive to put things right.

“We will digest this now, the manager will go through it and we then prepare for Nottingham Forest,” the England

international added.

Meanwhile, Forest No.1 Dean Henderson is doing everything to put himself in the World Cup shop window.

Manager Cooper said of the Manchester United loanee, above: “Dean is working incredibly hard – and it’s not just the stuff he does on the pitch.

“He spends a lot of time off the pitch analysing and really looking deeply into his game and training.”
