Boy George: I’m a bit like Maggie... I don‘t sleep much

IT’S been a three-year wait but the celebrities are finally ready to head back to the jungle for I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! The line-up was unveiled officially for the 22nd series, which returns to Australia after two pandemic-hit series held in Wales, in these photos. And the 10 stars revealed their hopes and fears. Culture Club singer Boy George dubbed himself “a bit like Margaret Thatcher” as he does not sleep a lot. He said: “I find it a bit of a hindrance because I can’t get things done if I’m asleep.”

Chant

Vegetarian George, sporting a spotty shirt after saying in 2016 he had turned down the series due to the strict camp uniform, is a Buddhist. He added: “I do like to chant and I will find a corner to do it in. I do fast a lot and weirdly I am nicer when I don’t eat. “I am quite a good cook but I can make some really disgusting things. “Some people open my fridge and scream.

“I will miss my phone, espressos, goat’s cheese and feta cheese.”

George also added that he might burst into tears: “I am fascinated by bugs and creatures. I think I will cry if I see something beautiful. I’ve never been in the jungle.” Romance within the camp could be on the cards – with the likes of Hollyoaks’ Owen Warner and property expert Scarlette Douglas single and willing to mingle.

Royal Family member Mike Tindall insisted he was an “open book”. That will be great if campmates can get him talking about what he has seen at Buckingham Palace.

But even before the contestants for the reality show – hosted as ever by Ant and Dec – made it into camp, ITV brought in a public vote and a twist that could have celebs yelling: “Get me out of here.”

Viewers can now decide to create VIPs. But Jungle VIPs are “Very Isolated People”, forcing them to spend the night stranded on an island and facing the first trial. ●●I’m A Celebrity, ITV, Sunday, 9pm
