High pressure... I’m a Celeb comic backs out of first trial

- By Mark Jefferies

IT HAS not yet started on TV but one I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here star has already pulled out of a trial.

Contestants had to walk to the end of a wobbling platform at a huge height.

Babatunde Aléshé was on the roof of the 32-storey Focus building on Australia’s Gold Coast with rivals Jill Scott and Charlene White in dramatic scenes that will be screened tomorrow night.

Show hosts Ant and Dec explained the challenge to the harnessed trio, who faced being tipped to look down at the ground.

Ex-footballer Jill, 35, and broadcaster Charlene, 42, completed the task but Babatunde was seen to head back to the roof, head in hands and looking scared.

Crew checked the platform for problems but it seems the Celebrity Gogglebox star did not take part in the contest.

One onlooker said: “Babatunde looked nervous before the challenge began and he never got going. He shuffled and stopped and left Charlene out on her ledge for several minutes.

“After that Jill wasted no time and got straight out to join her.”

The challenge was the first of many the campmates will face. They will be split into three groups and will enter the jungle at different times.

Speaking before ITV began filming, Babatunde said he would try to take part in all the trials: “I don’t know about phobias but I just want to challenge myself.

“I want to at least try with each one. But if it gets too much to the point where I mentally can’t deal with this then yeah, just say those words.”

Tears

Meanwhile, rival Mike Tindall said his royal wife Zara told him not to eat loudly in camp.

The ex-rugby player, 44, also admitted to tears as he said goodbye to his family.

He has spoken to their children Mia, Lena and Lucas by phone and said: “They say they’re going to miss you when you leave.

“But when you ring them, they’re like, ‘Hi Dad, bye’.”
