Stars are puttin’ on the knits for charity
THE mood is right, the spirit’s up – and it’s nearly time to dig out your festive sweaters like this lot for a good cause. Stars from TV and music are supporting Save the Children’s 11th Christmas Jumper Day on Thursday December 8. It has collected more than £30million to help youngsters around the world in its 10-year history. And the charity moneyspinner will reach twice as many children thanks to the Government’s Aid Match funding. It will double every donation up to £2million. To highlight the double your donation offer, Holly Willoughby, 41, and Phillip Schofield, 60 pulled on a special twinheaded knit.
The charity is urging us to choose pre-loved woolies and up-cycled knits adorned with baubles and tinsel instead of hitting the high-street – to back sustainable fashion. And to support the second-hand call, all the stars supporting the campaign are modelling vintage jumpers, some of which will be distributed to Save the Children shops across the country to buy. Other celebrities to wear a novelty knit include The Voice judge and singer Olly Murs, Strictly’s Giovanni Pernice, Good Morning Britain pals Charlotte Hawkins and Kate Garraway, and Spice Girl Emma Bunton.
They were joined by The One Show’s Alex Jones, ex-Strictly judge Dame Arlene Phillips, Loose Women’s Katie Piper, singer Peter Andre, Love Island’s Dani Dyer and TV doctor Ranj Singh.

Giovanni, 32, said: “Christmas for me is all about catching up with my family and eating too much! I absolutely love this Strictly Come Christmas jumper. It’ll be my choice for Christmas Jumper Day.”
Emma, 46, said: “What better way to raise money to help children around the world.”
And Kate added: “Some of my happiest memories are about Christmas. I love that feeling of the house smelling of turkey, everybody coming together and seeing family and friends you haven’t seen for a while. It’s also an important time to think about others.”
