Chris and George’s ‘secret’ support act
POP star Boy George and DJ Chris Moyles are set to stage a mutual love-in on I’m A Celebrity.
The pair are good friends through Chris’s long-term girlfriend Tiffany Austin, who has been the Culture Club star’s day-to-day manager since June 2018.
But they have not let on to viewers how well connected they are.
Before the series began George, 61, said he always imagined it would be “a bit creepy” if he was pals with Chris, 48, but has been pleased to find it is “not weird” and has even detected changes in his “gorgeous” friend since his early career, saying the outspoken former Radio 1 DJ has “evolved as a human”.
Speaking to Chris, he said: “I always thought if I ever knew you it would be a bit creepy, but it’s not. That’s what is weird about it, that it’s not weird. You’re gorgeous.
“You’ve evolved as a human and people can’t believe it. There used to be fear coming in to see you. Now, you’re very sophisticated and we’re friends. Now I’m all the time going, ‘How did I end up being almost family with Chris Moyles?’” Chris and George took on the first Bushtucker Trial together this week.
And the DJ has been a sounding board for the star in the camp as he shared some of his jungle issues.
Interviewing George on his Radio X show in May, Chris revealed a few practical aspects of their bond as he recalled helping the pop icon with his weekly shop. He said: “As I’m carrying it up his driveway, I said to Tiff, ‘When I watched Top Of The Pops years ago, never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be bringing Boy George his shopping!’”
