Now Harry and Meghan want to build their own virtual ‘universe’

- By Russell Myers

HARRY and Meghan are preparing to build their own virtual world in the Metaverse in a bid to expand their global reach.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are in talks with an award-winning technology firm, which is launching the world’s first public “land sale” in the digital world.

Stars like pop singer Justin Bieber and socialite Paris Hilton have been drawn to joining the virtual universe, which is touted as the next stage of the internet.

Goods, services or even an area to build your own immersive world are bought with digital currency, such as Bitcoin. Meghan and Harry could appear as a digital version of themselves, or “avatar”, to meet fans. A source close to the Sussexes said they feel they “will have an even greater ability to spread their message if they have a presence in the virtual world as well as the physical one”.

They added: “They talked to experts and this is the next stage to take their brand truly global and reach as many people as possible.”

The late Queen Elizabeth II banned the pair from using their royal titles for commercial gain or marketing their Sussex Royal brand.

But through their foundation Archewell, Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, have signed commercial deals worth more than £100million with streaming giants Netflix and Spotify.

Archewell is now in advanced talks with tech wizards PaxWorld to make a “Megha-verse” happen.

Pax World’s Frank Fitzgerald said: “Imagine Meghan hosting a live podcast in the Metaverse, or Harry hosting an important conference on sustainability with world leaders.”

Meanwhile, Meghan, has claimed she was begged not to stop her “activism” in 2018. She said on her Archetypes podcast: “Just a few days before my wedding, a very, very influential and inspiring woman – who for her own privacy I won’t share who it was with you – said to me: ‘I know that your life is changing but please don’t give up your activism…because it means so much to women and girls.’”

She also said she has grown used to a “default eye roll” by people who underestimate strong women.
