PICKS OF THE DAY

-

Sport: Live FA Cup Football, ITV1, 7.30pm

Luton Town v Manchester City (kick-off 8pm). Laura Woods, Roy Keane and Ian Wright present coverage of the fifthround match at Kenilworth Road. The teams have already faced each other here in the Premier League this season, when the side managed by Pep Guardiola (left) overcame a one-goal deficit to win 2-1. The Hatters have been in top goal-scoring form of late, and will hope to use that, and their home advantage, to claim a shock victory against the reigning champions.

Documentary: Saving Venice, BBC4, 10pm

The iconic city of Venice, distributed over 118 small islands, seems to lie in the middle of its lagoon like a sleeping beauty in a magnificent and motionless eternity. But from time to time its sleep is disturbed by the sea’s incursions. These are becoming more and more frequent and violent due to global warming and climate change. Are these the first signals of an environmental crisis that will affect the whole planet?

Lifestyle: Perfect Pub Walks With Bill Bailey, More4, 9pm

Comedian, musician and nature lover Bill Bailey (left) is joined by his friend Trevor McDonald for walks in Essex and Suffolk. The pair visit sights which inspired artist John Constable around Dedham Vale, as well as the EssexSuffolk border and the Stour Estuary as they amble along on their perfect pub walk. Former News At Ten legend Sir Trevor, 84, who retired in 2005, opens up about emigrating from his homeland of Trinidad, his career as a journalist and some of his most memorable interviews, including Nelson Mandela. Having stretched their legs they take pit stops at the Bull at Brantham, the Kings Head in Stutton and Pin Mill’s Butt & Oyster.

Reality: New Model Army, C4, 10pm

New series following the cast of models represented by Zebedee Talent – a leading agency for disabled, visibly different, non-binary and trans models, committed to changing the way disability and gender identity are represented in fashion and the wider media. Model Shem (above) receives a call from Fred Perry, while Jasroop is booked for a dream job shooting in Venice, but things don’t quite go to plan.

History: The Boleyns: A Scandalous Family, BBC4, 9pm

One of the great tales of Tudor intrigue – the rise and fall of Thomas, Mary and Anne Boleyn (Rafaelle Cohen, right). It is the kind of series that lines up engaging experts to tell the story but for visual padding relies on actors in costumes wafting about with no dialogue. That can feel toshy, but classy production values help it explain the slippery ladders of court life that Anne Boleyn’s socialclimbing father exploited brilliantly — up to a point.
