Music: 2 Tone: The Sound Of Coventry, BBC4, 11.55pm

Musician Jerry Dammers, 2 Tone’s founder and then keyboard player of ska band The Specials, tells how he came up with the ideas behind the “two tone” revolution. The programme also looks at how the new genre exploded into mainstream music and fashion, pushing the label’s bands up the charts to success. Also featuring The Specials’ Neville Staple and the band’s one-time manager Pete Waterman, The Selecter’s Neol Davies (left, with Staple), and two tone fan, film director Gurinder Chadha.

Before he developed his career as a TV and radio broadcaster in his own right, for more than two decades Paul O’Grady (left) was better known as his wittily acid-tongued drag queen alter-ego, Lily Savage. This intimate portrayal looks at Paul’s life story through the lens of his famous creation, and against a backdrop of challenging times for Margaret Thatcher’s Britain, including the Aids crisis. With contributions from friends and family of the star.
