‘We are alive and kicking in our sector’
ADRIAN Haller says manufacturing is not only surviving but it is thriving with new investments.
The managing director of Bruderer UK, a world leader in high-speed stamping presses to shape and cut metal, is Swissowned but has had a UK presence for more than 55 years.
It is in the process of building a new multi-million-pound factory in the heart of Telford, home of the first industrial revolution.
Construction work will be completed in September and will see the creation of a dedicated competence centre capable of sales and servicing of used machines, restoration of legacy presses and, for the first time, a modern showroom.
The move will see the firm relocate from Luton to Shropshire with new jobs and an apprenticeship programme to cope with an unprecedented increase in demand for its technology. Mr Haller said: “We are alive and kicking in a sector that is dynamic and ready for growth.
“I want continued government support and investment as I firmly believe that, with the right backing, UK manufacturing can reach even greater heights.”
His confidence chimes with those leading a sector that is the cornerstone of national prosperity but he stressed the urgent need for young talent so innovation-driven progress can shape the future.
Mr Haller added the £4.5billion investment in the Advanced Manufacturing Plan, a government blueprint to make the UK the best place in the world to start and grow a manufacturing business, “proves to me the powers that be are finally taking us seriously and looking to capitalise on a determination to propel industry forward”.
