WAGs’ walk-on part spooks the Gooners

TOTTENHAM 2 BURNLEY 1

TOTTENHAM have finally done something on the pitch to unnerve their north London rivals.

Arsenal fans are convinced Spurs are ready to down tools and sabotage the Gunners’ dream of being Premier League champions, after the traditional end-ofseason lap of honour, with two games still left to play following the win over Burnley.

Gooners were infuriated by the sight of WAGs and children joining Ange Postecoglou’s squad in seemingly celebrating all-but sealing fifth place on Saturday.

Manchester City’s visit to Spurs tomorrow concerns Arsenal fans.

Even Dejan Kulusevski, above, said it felt weird to be marking the end of the home campaign when they still have a huge fixture to fulfil.

The stakes riding on the final home game for Spurs will be raised if Aston Villa fail to beat Liverpool tonight.

That would open the door to Spurs snatching fourth place and a Champions League spot. Kulusevski said: “It was a strange feeling but it was for the kids because it was an afternoon game. The season is not over.”

Spurs have exploited City’s high line in a run of four home league wins against them.

Sweden midfielder Kulusevski said: “It’s a team we love playing against. We love playing against the strongest teams.

“The fact they leave spaces behind the backline is one thing, but there are many things when you play against the best.” Spurs ended a four-game losing streak – their worst for 12 years – to relegate Burnley. Jacob Bruun Larsen put Burnley ahead, but the Clarets held the lead they needed to avoid being relegated for only seven minutes before Pedro Porro levelled.

Spurs had to wait until the 83rd minute to seal victory courtesy of Micky van deVen.

James Maddison, back in the side after being on the bench for defeats by Liverpool and Chelsea, said: “Of course we will give everything on Tuesday. We are professionals.”
