FIVE THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT ME...

- CHRIS O’DOWD

1

Coming from a very matriarchal family – my mother’s a psychotherapist and a very strong woman – I do my fair share of housework. My wife Dawn O’Porter’s a strong feminist too, so I wouldn’t dare not! I’m a very good cleaner and I like my home to be pleasant.

2

I don’t drive, I take public transport. We’re on a good bus route which I use a lot, I just get on and off every day and very few people bother me. London’s very good about people not getting crazy about recognising people.

3

Although I live in London I feel at home in America. I think the American and Irish sensibilities are closer than the British and Irish are. The British have that stiff upper lip, which isn’t part of my mentality.

4

I’m not nearly as good a dancer as I used to think I was! I love throwing myself round a dancefloor and I thought I had natural rhythm… but then I did a film called Cuban Fury about salsa dancing and discovered how wrong I’d been!

5

My wife and I met at her 30th birthday party. We were in LA and had mutual friends so I’d been trying to pursue her online, but she kept turning me down. Then on the night of her party she was worried about numbers so she invited me. I asked her out the next day and it all worked out!
