9AM, 9.30PM, RADIO 4 In November 1915, Albert Einstein submitted his General Theory Of Relativity to a scientific journal. The German mathematician David Hilbert also submitted an article on the subject in that same month. Brian Cox and a cluster of cosmologists take Robin Ince and us on a guided tour of the theory on its 100th anniversary.

11.30AM, RADIO 4 The creepy, compelling song Mack The Knife was written in 1928 by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, and was a lastminute addition to their Threepenny Opera. When the barrel organ that was to accompany it broke down, the theatre’s orchestra pitched in with a jazz accompaniment. Suzi Quatro and Lenny Kaye share memories of a song that has been in the repertoire of hundreds of singers, and was a number one for Bobby Darin in 1959.

7.30PM, RADIO 3 The hallelujahs fill St David’s Hall, Cardiff, as Laurence Equilbey conducts the BBC National Chorus and Orchestra of Wales in this live performance of Handel’s joyful oratorio, Messiah.
