The Cory Band started out in the Rhondda valley in 1884. Back then, it was called the Ton Temperance Band, and it has, over the course of its music-filled history, also been called the Buy As You View Band. It is one of the world’s oldest and greatest brass bands and its current conductor, Philip Harper, talks to Frank Renton tonight about his own career and his plans for Cory.
