Simon Pegg, who created the show with Jessica Hynes, is now a big player in Hollywood, with the kind of fanboy success his Spaced character, slacker Tim Bisley, could only dream of. Not only did Pegg (below left, with Hynes) land a recurring role as engineer Scotty in the rebooted Star Trek film series, but he also co-wrote the most recent instalment, Beyond, which is in cinemas now. Jessica Hynes played Tim’s flatmate, Daisy Steiner, who dreamed of becoming a writer – a role that the actress herself has excelled at. In addition to creating Spaced with Pegg, she wrote the TV one-off Lizzie And Sarah (2010), and created and starred in the suffragette comedy series Up The Women (2013-15). Hynes also had enormous fun playing dippy PR girl Siobhan in both Twenty Twelve (2011-12) and its follow-up, W1A (2014). Nick Frost starred as Tim’s gun-loving survivalist pal, Mike Watt (left). A longterm collaborator of Pegg’s, Frost costarred with him in the Cornetto trilogy of spoof genre films, which began with Shaun Of The Dead (2004). Among his many solo projects, Frost has had two lead roles – in sci-fi sitcom Hyperdrive (2006-07) and in comedy drama Mr Sloane (2014).
