Victoria

9PM, ITV Jenna Coleman is utterly charming as the young queen who was far more amused than history would have you believe. Written by the author and poet Daisy Goodwin, this sumptuously filmed epic follows the early years of Queen Victoria as she took to the throne at a time when the monarchy was far less popular than it is today. But with the help of her loyal Prime Minister, Lord Melbourne (Rufus Sewell, right with Coleman), and a mixture of easy charm and steely determination, the young Princess Alexandrina was able to win over a nation.

Ellie Simmonds: Swimming with Dolphins

7PM, ITV Before setting off to Rio to defend her Paralympic titles, the swimmer who stole the nation’s hearts at the 2012 London Games got the chance to fulfil a lifelong dream by swimming with the creatures that inspired her to succeed in the sport. But first she must overcome her fear of the sea.

Are You Being Served?

9PM, BBC1 It’s 60 years since classic sitcom Hancock’s Half Hour hit our screens, and to mark the occasion, the BBC has revived four of its most popular comedies, with new casts and old jokes. First up is a visit to the newly revamped Grace Bros for a typically innuendo-laden caper. Altogether now: ‘I’m free’.

Porridge

9.30PM, BBC1 And the second brings back to life Norman Stanley Fletcher – well, his grandson, anyway – as Kevin Bishop steps into the rather large shoes of Ronnie Barker to play the cheeky inmate. This time, Fletch is a convicted computer hacker who ends up on the wrong side of the fearsome Officer Meekie (Mark Bonnar).
