12 NOON, RADIO 2 Olly Smith and Levi Roots get together over the barbecue briquettes for this bank holiday special, recorded in a south London park. They’ll be swapping tips for open-air eating, while Levi gets cooking. They pick some of their favourite summer holiday music, Levi shares a few of his recipes, and Olly gives advice on affordable drinks to complete the feast.

Johnnie Walker Meets…

7PM, RADIO 2 Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt got together in 1975 for a singsong. Their voices blended easily; finding the time to get the three of them together to make a record was harder. Despite busy schedules, they’ve managed to make two albums over the years. They talk to Johnnie this afternoon about the making of these albums.

BBC Proms 2016

7.30PM, RADIO 3 The Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra played its first concert in the 1740s, and is one of the world’s oldest orchestras. In tonight’s Prom, under the baton of Andras Schiff, the orchestra will play an all-Beethoven concert that opens with the Overture Leonore and concludes with the stirring Symphony No 7.

The Story Of Stax

10PM, RADIO 2 By the end of 1967, Stax Records was on its knees. Otis Redding, one of the label’s many great stars, had died in a plane crash, and a massive bureaucrat­ic error meant that Stax didn’t own its back catalogue. Beverley Knight follows the ups and downs of a label that had more than its fair share of ill luck.
