8PM, BBC1 It’s week six, and in another Bake Off first, there is a botanical theme, with three challenges inspired by nature. The show stopper challenge is the biggest of the series so far: three sponge tiers with floral designs.

8PM, CH4 Penelope is off to Scotland to explore the remarkable communities of Argyll and Bute. There, she pays a visit to the island of Easdale, a place without roads or cars, which plays host to the World Stone Skimming Championships.

DCI Banks

9PM, ITV The attack on Annie seems to have sent Banks over the edge in this first half of the final two-part story. He’s convinced that crime boss Steve Richards is behind it, but he can’t prove it – and Banks soon finds himself exiled from the station, with Helen in charge.

Grand Designs

9PM, CH4 Matt and Sophie from Sussex want to build a giant family house of fun for themselves and their children, complete with secret dens, hiding places behind one-way mirrors, and a fireman’s pole. What will serious-minded host Kevin McCloud think of such frivolity?
