DRAMA
National Treasure
ALL 4 In Channel 4’s bold and gripping four-part drama, Robbie Coltrane plays a much-loved comedy star who has been accused of historic sex crimes. Did he do it? Julie Walters plays his wife, with Andrea Riseborough as his daughter. Poldark/Victoria BBC iPLAYER/ITV HUB This is the last week that episodes one to three of Poldark will all be available – part one leaves iPlayer on Tuesday, October 4. As for its Sundaynight rival, Victoria’s feature-length opener is only on ITV Hub until Tuesday, September 27, so catch up now if you missed out.
COMEDY
Josh BBC iPLAYER Lovers of gentle one-liners should enjoy Josh Widdicombe’s comedy about a hapless young man (Widdicombe) and his flatmates. It returned last week with a distracting cameo from Tamzin Outhwaite as an innuendo-loving date for Josh, and new episodes arrive weekly on iPlayer, on Thursdays at 10am.
Fleabag BBC iPLAYER Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s caustic but very well-performed comedy about a grieving one-woman wrecking ball and her messedup family. All six episodes are available.
DOCUMENTARY
Brexit: A Very British Coup? BBC iPLAYER This riveting inside account of the Leave campaign goes right from its early days, through to the seismic vote on June 23 and the chaos that followed – not least at the top of the Conservative Party. Boris Johnson, Nigel Farage and Iain Duncan Smith are all featured. Penelope Keith’s Hidden Villages ALL 4 The actor returned for a third series of her utterly British countryside tour last week, beginning in the villages and valleys of the Cotswolds (‘Notting Hill with wellies’). The first two series, in which she discovered sleepy hamlets in the West Country, East Anglia, Cumbria, Sussex and more, are also on All 4.
ENTERTAINMENT
Celebrity Island With Bear Grylls ALL 4 Ten celebrities are marooned on an island with little but some luggage and some advice from Bear – ‘positivity, positivity, positivity’ – in this charity survival challenge.
LAST CHANCE
The Circuit ALL 4 Dark comedy pilot from Sharon Horgan and Dennis Kelly (Pulling), which takes place at an excruciating dinner party that no one wants to attend. The language is filthy. Until today.
