Martin and Sonia (James Alexandrou and Natalie Cassidy, above) weren’t a perfect match, but it was still sad when divorce papers landed on Sonia’s doormat. Although they thought it was for the best, the pair regretted making their split official.

15 YEARS AGO – EMMERDALE

Zak and Lisa Dingle (above) were going through a rocky patch when he offered Jenny Taylor, the widow of his old friend Les, a shoulder to cry on. After knocking back too much whisky they ended up in bed, leaving Zak overcome with guilt.

20 YEARS AGO – CORRIE

Headmistress Sue Jeffers started to fall for Ken Barlow, who was a teacher at her school. But having arranged for them to go to a teaching conference she got drunk (pictured) and then knocked herself unconscious in his bathroom.
