PICK OF THE DAY
Saving Africa’s Elephants: Hugh And The Ivory War
9PM, BBC1
Shockingly, more than 80 African elephants are being killed for their ivory every day. In this two-part documentary, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall sets out to discover how we can stop this horrific slaughter, which experts believe could see the African elephant extinct in the wild within 25 years. This first programme finds him visiting Mozambique, where he is appalled to learn that almost two thirds of the elephants at Niassa National Reserve have been lost in only three years. This to stop.
Autumnwatch 2016
8PM, BBC2
Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan and Martin HughesGames settle into a brand-new location, RSPB Arne Reserve in Dorset, to follow the local wildlife through its autumn routine. The sika deer rut and the woman on a mission to fly with migrating Bewick’s swans are among the highlights of tonight’s first show.
