As the competitio­n hots up in the 2017 series of Britain’s Got Talent (8pm, ITV), we look at what some of the show’s winners have been up to since their BGT triumph…

Paul Potts The first winner, back in 2007, opera singer Paul has released five albums – including the soundtrack to the movie about his win. One Chance, released in 2013, stars James Corden as Paul. Last year, Paul took on his first-ever profession­al opera role.

Diversity While many expected Susan Boyle to win in 2009, she was beaten by street dancers Diversity. Younger member Perri Kiely won TV diving contest Splash! in 2014, leader Ashley Banjo (left) was a judge on ITV’s celebrity contest Dance Dance Dance early this year, and the group have recently finished their seventh tour. Ashleigh and Pudsey

The winners in 2012, Ashleigh Butler and her dancing dog, Pudsey, were the only act to pocket £500,000 – the current prize is £250,000. Since their win, Pudsey (left) has made a movie (2014), while Ashleigh looked for love on a celebrity version of First Dates (2016).

Richard Jones Last year’s winner was the first magician to take the

BGT crown, and he caused something of a stir when he got Prince Charles to assist him in his turn at the 2016 Royal Variety Performanc­e. A recent TV special saw Lance Corporal Jones combining his two careers – magic and the Army – to stunning effect.
