This brilliant adaptation of Mike Bartlett’s acclaimed stage play follows the new King Charles as he sets a sequence of events in play that threaten the very future of the monarchy.

It serves as a fitting tribute to Tim Pigott-Smith, whose superb performanc­e as Charles was one of the last before his death.

If you want adventure... FROM MOROCCO TO TIMBUKTU Thursday, 9pm, BBC2

This colourful two-part series follows writer Alice Morrison (near right) as she fulfils a lifelong ambition – to visit the fabled city of Timbuktu before it is lost forever to sand and war. Her 2,000-mile Arabian adventure follows ancient trade routes, and begins in Tangier.
