Gordon Ramsay’s contest returns for a new season, and it’s on less macho and circus-like form than usual. This, along with the addition of guest judges, makes for an agreeable change of tone – the initial whittling of the contenders feels nicer, too, and takes the form of a series of intimate cook-offs.
