Choral Evensong
3.30PM, RADIO 3
Alban, so the story goes, was a Romano-British citizen who gave refuge to a priest fleeing persecution. Alban swapped clothes with the priest, and was beheaded by the Romans, thus becoming a martyr and Britain’s first saint. Today is the eve of the Feast of St Alban, and it will be marked in St Albans Cathedral by this service, which will include the hymn True, Merciful And Brave The Saint Whose Name We Celebrate.
