The web-slinging superhero has now been swallowed up into the Marvel films, but Brit Andrew Garfield was good in the role (left). In his buzzy final outing, he faces nemesis Green Goblin, just like Tobey Maguire’s Spidey once did. Peter Parker takes off in a new direction in Homecoming, out in cinemas next month.

We’ve seen it before – hostile alien life forms attacking hapless astronauts – but there are a few twists here, and the horror escalates effectively. Liev Schreiber is one of the scientists on Mars who, hours before their ride home, have a truly terrifying close encounter.
