We return to the fictional Cornish village of Portwenn as the popular drama about Dr Martin Ellingham (Martin Clunes), the grouchy GP with the appalling beside manner, returns for a penultimate eighth series. Last time we saw Martin and his long-suffering wife Louisa (Caroline Catz, right, with Clunes), they were striving to save their marriage; but will they be able to live in harmony with baby James Henry – and a new, four-legged addition to the family? The first episode finds a dark cloud looming over what is supposed to be a happy event.
