There are plenty of scary movies to choose from in the run-up to All Hallows’ Eve, but if you’re looking for something a bit different, this is it. A mock-documentary horror comedy (with emphasis on the comedy), it combines the anarchic style of Spinal Tap with the domestic set-up of Being Human to create a film that will make you squeal with glee rather than jump with fright. It’s co-written and codirected by Jemaine Clement (Flight Of The Conchords) and film director Taika Waititi (Boy, Thor: Ragnarok), who also star as two of the centuriesold vampires (above) who fled Europe to set up home in Wellington, New Zealand. Hissing and bickering over the washing-up, and facing a woefully mundane eternity, these flat-sharing vamps are embarrassingly hapless, hopelessly uncool and fangtastic fun.
