The mountainee­r Chris Bonington has surveyed some breathtaki­ng panoramas from the highest summits of the world, but his favourite view lies nearer to home. High Pike in the Lake

District is, by Chris’s standards, a modest 2,159ft high. It lies close to the mountainee­r’s house, and he regularly walks his dog on this fell in the northern part of the Lake District. Helen Mark joins Chris on a climb of High Pike, and he tells her why he loves the view from the top.

She hears some tricks of the trade from Ronan Bennett, the writer of Face, Public Enemies and Gunpowder – the latter currently showing on Saturday nights on BBC1 – who reveals why he thinks thrillers should really be called ‘tensers’.

Oasis hits from back in the day, when the Gallagher brothers could bear to share the same stage. Wonder if brother Noel will be singing along at home.

The Full Works Concert

The Orchestra Of The Swan is a chamber orchestra based in Stratford-upon-Avon. For this concert, recorded last month at the Stratford ArtsHouse, the orchestra was joined by clarinet player Julian Bliss. Works by Rossini, Beethoven and Weber make up the bill. SJ
